December 3, 2013
The 2013 Christmas Party was held at Emma Jeans Restaurant near Walnut, Iowa. All 11 members were present.  The festivities started with a lovely meal ordered from the menu.  Roxie presented the second quilt that is now quilted and ready for donation.  LeAnn brought the labels and Charmayne volunteered to sew them on. Shirley brought a picture of the Christmas Tree Walk Tree that Guild sponsored and she had prepared. A Gift – Exchange was held – with no twist this year.  Lovely handmade gifts were received and loved by all. Merry Christmas to all!

Meeting Minutes

November 19, 2013
I.     Call to order
LeAnn Keenan called to order the regular meeting of the Nishnabotna Valley Quilters Guild at 7 pm on November 19 in the Library - Walnut, IA.
II.     Roll call
LeAnn conducted a roll call. There were 8 members and 1 guest – Fran present.
III.     Approval of minutes from last meeting
LuAnn read the minutes from the last meeting. The minutes were approved as read. Thanks you’s had been sent to Dora Jean for the backing that had been donated and a Get Well card had been sent to Ione after her fall 2 weeks ago. Treasure was absent but reports balance is unchanged.  Dorine submitted bill for batting.   
IV.     Open issues
a)     Christmas tree was donated by LeAnn for the Christmas walk. 
b)     Community Quilt Group- Shirley brought more 4x6 inch squares to make more quilts.  Dorine has completed the first quilt that looked quite lovely.  Shirley had put on the binding.  Shirley offered to quilt some donation quilts also. Shirley then showed 9 quilts that she had recently made and quilted in an unannounced truck show of which she donated 5 quilts to the Group. LeAnn offered to make labels for the quilts and Shirley, LuAnn and Betty volunteered to sew them on.  The Community Quilt Group and Shirley will plan to deliver the quilts to Elk Horn Nursing Home before Christmas.
V.     New business
c)     Christmas Tree Walk set up would be 10-4 Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Dorine will call the Historical Society to notify them of our participation.  Members brought ornaments that were of a religious theme. Trees are to be taken down on Sunday.  No one was able to set up on Wednesday so it was decided not to participate this year.  At the end of the meeting Shirley stated that she would take care of the tree this year both in putting it up and taking it down. – Thank you Shirley.
d)     Christmas Party is December 3 at 6 pm at Emma Jeans.  Homemade gifts for the gift exchange among members.
e)     Personal challenge and Round Robin quilts will be presented in January.  Personal Challenge list was again reviewed and many are on schedule.
f)      Challenge blocks were presented Missouri Star and some blocks were presented from the month before.  Vivian was not present to review Farm Friendliness Block but had sent copies of the block for all members. The last block will be taught by Charmayne in January
g)     Holiday Trunk show was presented by the members and guest and enjoyed by all.  There were Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, and Holloween quilts.   
VI.     Adjournment
Leann adjourned the meeting at 8:10.

October 15, 2013 Meeting Minutes

October 15, 2013
I.     Call to order
LeAnn called to order the regular meeting of the Nishnabotna Valley Quilters Guild at 7 pm  on October 15, 2013 in Library, Walnut, IA.
II.     Roll call
LeAnn conducted a roll call featuring show and tell. 4 of the 9 members present participated.
III.     Approval of minutes from last meeting
The treasure was absent bur reports slight changes to the balance. LuAnn read the minutes from the last meeting. The minutes were approved as read.
IV.     Open issues
a)     Community Quilt – The last sewing day was a success.  Only 2 members joined Roxy for a day of fun and food and a quilt top was completed.  Dorine offered to quilt the completed top and backing was provided.  The guild will pay for the batting that she uses. Discussion was held, the other completed top may be tied.  Another sew day was planned for November 16 at Roxy’s.
V.     New business
a)     Nominations Committee reports that Dorine would be the next President, moving up from Vice President.  Betty will be the new Vice President, Vivian will remain as Treasurer, Charmayne has agreed to be secretary.  LeAnn announced that she would step down as Historian and Roxie volunteered for that position. Thank you all.
b)     Christmas Tree for the annual Christmas Tree Walk will again be the weekend after Thanksgiving.  All members will bring religious type ornaments to the next meeting.
c)     Christmas Party will be December 3 6 pm  - apx 9 pm.  Gift exchange will be homemade items, Apx costing $10.  No pin cushions, no plastic canvas items, no wire hangers, and no toilet paper covers.  The Personal Challenge and Round Robin completed quilts will then be shared at the January Meeting.

September 17, Meeting Minutes

September 17, 2013
I.     Call to order
LeAnn Keenan called to order the regular meeting of the Nishnabotna Valley Quilters Guild at 7:05 on September 17, 2013  in the Library, Walnut IA.
II.     Roll call
LeAnn  conducted a roll call. 11 Members were present for show and tell
III.     Approval of minutes from last meeting
LuAnn  read the minutes from the last meeting. The minutes were approved as read. Treasurer was absent but sent a report that there were no changes this month
IV.     Open issues
a)     The Community Quilt Committee reports that the 6 patch blocks are ready for sashing.  Any member that can come to Roxie’s house on Saturday September 28 any time after 9:30. To bring sewing machines and basic sewing supplies.
V.     New business
a)     Nominating Committee will meet after today's session.
b)     Members are to think of possible ideas for the Christmas Party. Our December Meeting will be December 3
VI.     Program.
Roxie presented this month’s challenge bock “Windmill Square” and reports that it is easy. Nancy taught hand piecing with Ardco Templates.  She had several examples and works in progress to show.
Next Months meeting will be October 15 – members to bring basic hand sewing supplies such as needles, thread, scissors, marking pencil, and a small ruler for a hands on demo on “Rouching”.
