Meeting Minutes

August 20, 2013

I.     Call to order

LeAnn called to order the regular meeting of the Nishnabotna Valley Quilters Guild at 7:05 pm on August 20 in the Library - Walnut, IA.

II.     Roll call

LeAnn conducted a roll call. There were 10 members answering the question:

“What did you like or dislike about the state fair?” and show and tell. 

III.     Approval of minutes from last meeting

LuAnn read the minutes from the last meeting. The minutes were approved as read. The treasure was absent.

IV.     Open issues

a)     Omaha Shop Hop review was positive “it was a terrific day”.  The group would like to do it again next year.

b)     Community Outreach Committee collected the completed 6 patch blocks.  The next step will be announced next month or they may plan a sew day to compile the quilts.

V.     New business

c)     Nominations Committee was appointed.  Shirley moved and Betty seconded a motion to have Dorine, LeAnn and LuAnn be on the committee.  Plan is to have names presented in October and the vote will be held in November.

d)     Program Committee for 2014  will be Dorine, Charmayne and Betty.

VI.     Program

-Secretary Challenge – Completed postcards were completed and admired by all.  Roxie was the winner of the challenge by random drawing. 

-Challenge Block - Completed blocks were amazingly different with use of the focus fabric in various positions and our personal fabric stash to compete the block.  Elaine taught the next block – “Braced Star”.

-Making Perfect Circles - Robin taught this program – perfect for applique using the templates by Karen Kay Buckley

VII. Reminders

- Next meeting will be September 17.  Roxie will teach the Challenge Block and LeAnn will have the Hands on Demo on “Ruched Flowers”.
